About
Danielle Gonzales

Welcome. I started Insightful Therapy to support and empower children, parents, & women in their journey. Therapy is a process of uncovering our most authentic selves. Many of us move through our lives finding it hard to feel okay and safe within ourselves due to a multitude of reasons—childhood trauma, relational abuse, cultural pressures, and the weight everyday stress. All these aspects can made it so challenging to show up for ourselves let along our partners, families, or children. I work with women, parents, and children to get to a place where you can feel more safe and able to move through the world as your most real selves, unmasked, empowered, and regulated. I view each person as whole, with so many strengths to build on. The therapeutic relationship is a pivotal part of the process, I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental place for all the parts you.

We will explore your past, current relationships, how you feel in your body, and what patterns we notice to gain insights into you or your child to move toward healing. We will explore ways to regulate emotions, understand your needs, and integrate the parts of us that keep us in painful patterns. My clients and colleagues describe me as having a calm presence, and I work to create a collaborative space where we can work together towards your healing. I will share my knowledge and learn from you each step of the way, as a teammate.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in working with children and families. I have helped parents and children navigate the transition of divorce, having a mixed neurotype family, and have supported children in processing and communicating their world—and together strengthened the child-parent relationship and supported parents in understanding how to show for themselves and their children from a more authentic place.

My approach

My approach is highly relational and client-led. Together we will discuss ways to meet your goals in therapy. I will propose strategies to build on the strengths you or your child already possess. And because the quality of our relationship is so important to the process, I will ask for your feedback about our sessions and your experience of the therapy process.

I am grounded in family systems, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, Internal Family Systems, Play Therapy, and Sand Tray Therapy. My foundation will aid us in understanding you or your child’s experiences and together we will move towards healing. We will explore how the brain and body influences how we move through the world and how our growing up experiences shape us today in both adaptive and protective ways. I utilize Sand Tray Therapy in my work with individuals of all ages. Sand Tray Therapy is an approach that is expressive in nature and does not rely on solely verbal communication to process experiences, gain insights, and heal.
