Clicking, reading, and eye strain! Most of us have found ourselves lost in that vast sea of information known as the internet searching for quality information that is both helpful and trustworthy. When I am searching for resources I need the answers quickly. Too often I realize I have spent hours staring at my screens and feel like I am swirling in waves of information.

To save you from hours of searching, vetting, and potential seasickness from surfing the web, I have curated a list of trustworthy and credible sites that can answer an array of parenting questions. I personally and professionally utilize each site and have found that children, parents, and families I work with also find them useful. Each is full of insights, wisdom, and practical tips. I hope that these resources can serve as additional trusted support.

1. Playful Wisdom Blog

This site is created by play therapists and experts in the field--local to Washington. My favorite posts focus on child development. Have you met Five? breaks down what to expect at different ages in an easy to understand way. My next favorite is about parenting and connecting to your child, Opening the Gateway to Connection. This post offers practical ways to reconnect with your child in the day-to-day hustle and bustle.  What to do when you don’t know what to do as a parent is wonderful because ALL parents have been there. Other posts focus on anxiety, divorce, ADHD, strategies, and normalizing the common parenting challenges.

2. Aha Parenting!

Aha Parenting has a handy search feature with several tips and an array of posts that are neatly categorized into different age ranges and topic areas which make searching easy. My favorite posts are those that describe gameplans for parenting, for example, Gameplan for Parenting your Elementary Schooler. Another personal favorite is the category of posts that discuss Discipline that Works. There are also video explanations for various topics that are super helpful, especially if your brain learns better by watching and listening, here is one about how to handle meltdowns

3. Liana Lowenstein Original Therapeutic Resources for Parents

This website has curated articles that cover a range of parenting and childhood challenges. One of my favorites is the Explaining Separation/Divorce to Children, it provides helpful information beyond explaining to your child but ways to co-parent and explores the nuances of this life transition. Helping your Anxious Child aids in delineating common verses concerning types of worry and anxiety with tips to help with the anxiousness. I also really enjoyed the Parenting and the Brain article because I love learning about what is going on in the brain when we connect and build our bond.
